Submission to Health Canada Wind Turbine Noise and Health Study, 2012

Good afternoon Mr. Michaud and Minister Finley:

First of all I applaud the fact that the Harper Government is willing to undertake the wind turbine study. Thank you very much.

A couple of issues:

I would like to suggest that the comment period be extended to 90 days. 30 days is not enough time. There are many people on vacation and the extra time would allow for a more comprehensive overview by interested parties to comment on the study and the methodology to be used.

Several concerns have also arisen, which should be addressed before the study commences.

Are Dr. McMurtry's concerns valid? Is Health Canada the proper department to lead this study?

Noise levels will be studied outside of a house, but indoor noise levels will be estimated - is that good enough? I know I have spoken to people who question this.

I am not a study expert, however, I would think that if this study is going to be carried out that it be done properly. It must be done correctly and fairly so that the results will have meaning and be credible. No point in going through this exercise only to find out that there are(were) flaws in how the study was conducted, that would be a waste of time and money.

Kind regards,
